About Village Green Revitalization in Jinočany

The revitalization design for the center of Jinočany is rooted in respect for the village’s historical character and its natural landmarks. The goal is to transform the village green into a safe, barrier-free public space that meets the needs of a modern rural hub. At the heart of this transformation is the creation of a "green spine" that naturally connects local sports and leisure facilities with the area's characteristic landscape features.

A new traffic concept serves as the key tool for calming the space. The introduction of a bus loop and the strategic relocation of the bus stop—ensuring sufficient capacity and conflict-free operation—will allow for the removal of motor traffic from the park area and relieve the main road. Pedestrian priority is reinforced through the choice of materials, ranging from traditional granite paving on the square to permeable surfaces in relaxation zones. Necessary parking is sensitively positioned along the perimeter of the site.

The landscape strategy is based on the protection of viable existing trees, complemented by 68 new plantings. New tree avenues and dense perimeter greenery act as hygienic and wind barriers, significantly improving the local microclimate. The blue-green infrastructure system ensures effective stormwater retention and supports biodiversity within the urbanized environment.

The urban structure is enhanced by a vision for community housing for seniors and young families. The new buildings respect the scale of the surrounding architecture and define a southern piazzetta with a community hall. This creates a mosaic of diverse public spaces—from the traditional village green to a neighborhood plaza—whose flexibility allows for everything from intimate social gatherings to large-scale community events
